Junior drag racing isn’t just for kids with racing families — it’s for anyone who’s ready to try something different.
If you're curious but not sure where to start, that’s exactly what we’re here for.
We’ll help you find a car, understand the rules, get licensed, and start racing — step by step.
You don’t need a trailer full of tools or a brand-new car to join junior drag racing.
Most Nitro Ratz families start simple — with used cars, shared equipment, and a bit of guidance from the club.
Drivers need a certified helmet, jacket, pants, gloves, and shoes — all designed for junior drag racing. We’ll help you figure out exactly what’s needed and where to get it.
Racing happens on weekends, with a handful of race dates each season. Some families are at every race, others pick and choose. It’s flexible — you can make it fit your life.
A parent or guardian needs to be hands-on — helping in the pits, supporting their racer, and being part of the experience. No racing knowledge required — just a willingness to learn.
Junior drivers need to pass a licensing process (NHRA) that includes a basic understanding of the car and the completion of several licensing passes. We’ll walk you through the entire thing.
It’s probably not as expensive as you think. Once you've got your car, you just have to worry about entrance fees and membership.
In 2025 - Membership fees were $50 per Driver, $35 per affiliate (younger sibling)
Upon winning a Racing event, members receive a Trophy, with their name, the event and event date on the plaque. Fun races are held, with extra prizes, Random Draws...... and more!
Each year is different, however prize money can be available for placing in overall points, Rookie of the year, Perfect Lights and other special awards.
Past events have included, swimming adventures, bowling, escape rooms, Magic of Lights Hay Rides, Speeders and more! Each year is different and we look forward to many more group events.
The Nitro Ratz are always looking for new ideas, ways to support our club and give back to the Racing community! Please email any suggestions to info@nitroratz.ca
